Registration-Cum-Membership Certificate
The certificate of registration and membership of RCMC is granted by an Export Promotion Council/ Commodity Board/ Development Authority or other competent authority as prescribed by Foreign Trade Policy to an exporting unit. It is a non- profit organization registered under the Indian companies Act, Export Promotion Councils or EPC for the promotion of various goods exported from India. RCMC is compulsory for any person, applying for a licence/ authorization/certificate/permission to import/ export or any other benefit or concession under Foreign Trade Policy. It is also required for executing a bond before Central Excise authorities, which exempts exporters to furnish bank guarantees. So, it is important to obtain a RCMC registration from EPC for all the exporters.
There are various export promotion councils in India functioning under the control of the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India. Every export product will be related to any one of these councils and EPC To promote and develop the exports of particular group of products, projects and services. For certain group of products, which are sensitive from the viewpoint of national consumption, there are commodity boards instead. The RCMC certificate is valid from 1st April of the licensing year in which it was issued and shall be valid for five years ending 31st March of the licensing year, unless otherwise specified.
